Nothing adds more style to an outfit than a splash of unexpected color, and you can’t go wrong if you choose a color block piece this year. You’ll look totally on trend. Use accessories, the perfect pair of women’s shoes, and even hair embellishments to complete the hottest look.

To punch up your look, pick up a color block cardigan in an extra long length or with a flutter hem. One of the colors in the cardigan should be the stunning Olympian Blue shade that will be everywhere this fall. Worn over a black tee and black jeans, you’re ready for an afternoon. Upgrade the pants to wool crepe trousers and you’ll look polished enough for work or a casual dinner.

If you’re feeling bold, grab a color block tunic in a red, white, and black pattern and pair it with black pants from your closet. Add some short black booties or a platform pump and a few bracelets, and you’re good to go. For an extra splash of color, make the shoes red, or add a trendy red faux-snakeskin clutch.

You might prefer to ease into color blocking, and this fall’s crop of color block accessories lets you do that without blowing your budget. Pick up a lady-like square shoulder purse that gets its sizzle from contrasting blocks of black with blue, red, or even orange. For a subtler take on color blocking, go for tone on tone but with contrasting textures. Dark blue suede on light blue calfskin with a gold tone chain strap is glam at its finest! The look is sophisticated and very chic. Another big plus is that these items will look good for years to come.

You might prefer to step into the trend with a pair of color block shoes. These shoes aren’t like your granny’s spectator pumps. Today’s shoes are bold platforms with contrasting colors. Go for purple lizard platform booties with red toes. Worn with black tights and a purple mini, you’ll look and feel great. Add a simple and sleek short black leather jacket and a ton of gold chains and you’re office-appropriate as well as fashion right.

Whether you choose to buy an entire outfit or just a few accessories, color block is totally in this season, and you’ll feel great whichever way you go.

Thanks very much Anya for this wonderful post. I hope you like it as much as I did. Please check out . It has wonderful shoes for every occasion. One thing that I love about Shoe Dazzle is you get a personal style profile with shoes and accessories based on your personality.

  2. Wonderful inspiration, I love to add some color to my outfits! But well, I'm not a big fan of color blocking (with bright colors), maybe I have to become a bit more courageous ;-)
